Summer is here!!!!!

Summer is here and although it’s easy for us Brits to get a bit overexcited at the first glimpse of sunshine, it’s important to make sure we are fully prepared for the warmer months ahead! Looking after your skin in summer is vital in order to avoid some common beauty faux pas that have the potential to ruin your holiday plans. Below are some common seasonal beauty blunders along with our pick of summer products that can help to solve these issues.

Sun-damaged skin

A shocking 20%* of people are still failing to protect their skin from harmful rays. Applying a high SPF sun protection cream should be an essential part of everyone’s summertime regime, as it helps to protect the skin from UVB rays which can cause sunburn, skin damage and even skin cancer. To ensure your skin is properly protected you should also:

  • Re-apply sunscreen as frequently as stated on the product packaging.
  • Apply SPF cream in the morning before you step outside so that it has time to soak in – by doing this you are less likely to miss areas out.
  • Make sure you carry sunscreen with you if you are planning on being out all day.

It is also a good idea to pop a Forever Sun Lips in your bag as it contains SPF 30 and is ideal for protecting smaller areas such as lips, ears and toes.

Parched, straw-like hair

The combination of heat and humidity can often play havoc with our hair.  Added to this, the mixture of sand, sea and chlorine which often accompany the warmer weather means our hair can be left damaged, frazzled and seriously out of control. So, what are the best ways to tame your mane this summer?

  • Use Aloe-Jojoba Shampoo to cleanse the hair and scalp without stripping it of its natural oils.
  • Follow with Aloe-Jojoba Conditioning Rinse which contains jojoba and vitamin B to help nourish, protect and strengthen the hair. This pH-balanced conditioner helps eliminate split ends and gives hair a silky, salon-look finish.
  • Spritz wet hair with Aloe First every morning for an extra layer of protection from the heat and chlorine.

Streaky fake tan

As the dangers of tanning become increasingly apparent, it is becoming more tempting than ever to fake it! A sun kissed glow from the bottle can look sensational when done properly. However, there is nothing worse than seeing someone with unsightly tangerine streaks in unusual patches across their skin. Avoid this skin-conscious mishap by gently exfoliating skin before applying fake tan. Using an exfoliating glove and Aloe Scrub, gently prepare your canvas by washing away dead skin that clogs pores. Aloe Scrub is the perfect product as it uses natural microspheres of jojoba rather than harmful plastic microbeads that can be detrimental to ocean life. This scrub will help to reveal healthy-looking skin and its kind formula can even be used after your false tan application to correct any mistakes.

Dehydrated skin

After a day of fun in the sun, parched skin can be in serious need of hydration! Banish dry and flaky skin by smothering yourself with a good quality after sun lotion that locks in moisture and nourishes beyond the surface. Forever’s Aloe Lotion works as an excellent after sun lotion and contains jojoba oil, vitamin E, collagen and elastin. Added apricot kernel oil also helps to create a lightweight barrier to provide further protection. If you do catch the sun a little bit more than you’d like, try applying Aloe Vera Gelly to the affected area. This soothing gel lubricates sensitive tissue safely and helps to calm irritation.
